Mike Rylander
grew up in Minot, North Dakota, where he began performing in community
& college
theater at an early age. His love of acting continued
into high school, where his portrayal of Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet
earned him the Best Actor award from the
Thespian Society. Mike was also Captain of his school's Math Track
team, an All-Conference
football player & State Champion of the American Legion National
High
School Oratorical Contest. After a short stint at North Dakota State University as a Computer Engineering & Mathematics double major, Mike relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he studied improvisation & sketch comedy at the nationally-recognized Brave New Workshop for four years. He has been performing professionally ever since. Mike has appeared in numerous independent films and countless television & internet commercials, including the former "Most Watched Television Commercial of All-Time", (Doritos - Snack Attack Samurai), which had 116.2 million viewers during it's 2010 airing on CBS during Super Bowl XLIV. Most recently, Mike narrated the audiobook for his brother's debut novel, The Fourth Stall, released by HarperCollins & Walden Pond Press in February 2011. Mike is the In-Arena Game Host for the Minnesota Timberwolves, a Guest Host for ShopNBC, a Segment Host for LTF Vision, Lifetime Fitness' national in-club network, and co-hosts Weekends With Mike & Natalie, a weekly talk radio show on MyTalk 107.1FM. He is a former On-Air Personality for The CW Twin Cities and Live Event Emcee for Fox Sports Network. In 2007, Cosmopolitan Magazine named him one of the "50 Sexiest Bachelors in America", and in 2009, he hosted the Regional Emmy-nominated game show, 21 Cards, filmed at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Mike has worked with many theaters in Minneapolis, including the Hennepin Theatre Trust (Bye Bye Liver, The Awesome 80's Prom), Actor's Theater of MN (Tony & Tina's Wedding, Song of Singapore), Four Humors (Romeo & Juliet, Deviled Eggs), Live Action Set (The Happy Show), Urban Samurai (A Few Good Men), Girl Friday (The Skin of Our Teeth), Lamb Lays With Lion (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Polish Pugilist), Joking Envelope (The Sexy Librarian), Theatre Unbound (Babe: An Olympic Musical) and Dana's Boys (The Saved By The Bell Show, Hamluke). He has also worked on nationally touring productions with the National Theater for Children and CLIMB Theater. In the fall of 2011, Mike will be relocating to Los Angeles, California. |
